The Border Legion

The Border Legion is the main fighting force of the Borderlands.

Symbol: A metal sword superimposed on a shield-shaped gem is the universal symbol of the Border Legion. The metal used for the sword and the gem used for the shield depend on the rank of the individual member. The metal and gem used for the Legion in general are a pewter sword and a topaz shield.
Background, Goals, and Dreams: The Border Legion is a well-respected (and feared by most hobgoblins) and well-organized army, created after the Great War for the single purpose of defending the human and elven lands against another invasion by the hobgoblins. To this end, the Border Legion has gained control of all routes into and out of the human and elven lands, and continues to push inward on the hobgoblins, eventually hoping to wipe them out forever.

Recommendation of Member: If you come recommended by a Knight or above, your affiliation score increases by +1. For every title above Knight that the highest-ranked recommending member is, you get an additional +1 bonus to your affiliation score. You must still complete a minor battle or special mission to be considered of Knight rank.
Special Mission: Some Scouts are assigned special missions to prove their worth. This mission must support the cause of the Legion, and is often extraordinarily difficult. Most are undertaken alone. Recent special missions of the Legion include: infiltrating the Diamond Fortress to retake it and scouting the entire border of the Legion’s territory. If the mission is successful, the participating scouts have their affiliation score improved to 10 or get +10 to their affiliation score, whichever provides a higher affiliation score. They also gain the title of Knight.
Death in Battle: If you die in battle and are not resurrected, you are immediately promoted to the Congress of Heroes so long as your initial rank was Knight level or higher. For major initiatives within the Congress of Heroes, the Congress summons all the spirits of dead Heroes. If (and/or when) you are resurrected, you return to your original affiliation score +2.
